Why Does Melt & Pour Soap Sweat?
On Instagram, TikTok and Facebook maker groups, one of the most common complaints about melt & pour (M&P) soap is “my bars are sweating” — tiny beads of moisture on the surface, especially in humid weather.
Why it happens
Glycerin and other humectants attract water from the air. Many conventional M&P bases use relatively high glycerin levels for a soft, “moisturising” feel. In warm, humid rooms or after ocean shipping, that moisture can show up as glycerin dew.
What helps
- Choose hardness-optimised bases and, where needed, No-Sweat grades.
- Consider low-sweat transparent or white grades when you sell into tropical or coastal markets.
- Wrap finished bars promptly; store cool and dry; avoid the freezer before unmoulding.
- Test a small batch in your real climate before a large production run.
